講座提要

The increasing complexity of modern power grids and their pivotal role in sustaining economic and societal functions necessitate a robust and resilient infrastructure. Power grids, the backbone of modern societies, ensure the continuous flow of energy that powers industries, businesses, and homes. As the energy landscape evolves with the integration of renewable energy sources, artificial intelligence, and complex connectivity with cyber coupling, the power grid faces unprecedented challenges, including cascading failures, cyber vulnerabilities, and the need for efficient resource management. In this talk, we will focus on the study of cascading failure in power systems and how complex network theory can be applied to model the cascade of failure events. We will highlight some challenges in applying complex network methods in light of the physical laws governing electrical system operation and the common inconsistencies arising from simple but subtly invalid assumptions of failure spreading on electrical networks, leading to unrealistic results and conclusions. We will examine the combined use of deterministic model and stochastic processes to generate realistic simulation models for analyzing cascading failure in power systems.

主講人簡(jiǎn)介

謝智剛,香港城市大學(xué)協(xié)理副校長(zhǎng)(Associate Vice-President)兼創(chuàng)新學(xué)院院長(zhǎng),電機(jī)工程學(xué)系講座教授。香港工程院院士(2025),IEEE Fellow(2006),教育部“長(zhǎng)江學(xué)者”講座教授(2009)。入選斯坦福全球頂尖2%學(xué)者名單,電機(jī)及電子領(lǐng)域綜合引用率全球排名第28位。

研究領(lǐng)域包括復(fù)雜網(wǎng)絡(luò)、電力電子和非線(xiàn)性系統(tǒng)。獲IEEE CASS Charles A. Desoer Technical Achievement Award等多項(xiàng)重大成就獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。曾多次獲IEEE及其他國(guó)際期刊頒發(fā)的最佳論文獎(jiǎng),以及國(guó)際發(fā)明獎(jiǎng)。曾獲多所國(guó)際著名大學(xué)頒授的榮譽(yù)教授及頭銜等。

任多部國(guó)際研究期刊總主編:包括IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems Part II (2016-2019)、IEEE Circuits and Systems Magazine (2013-2016)、 IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Newsletter (現(xiàn)任)。曾任 IEEE CAS 非線(xiàn)性電路與系統(tǒng)技術(shù)委員會(huì)主席、“IEEE網(wǎng)絡(luò)科學(xué)及工程”期刊的督導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主席、IEEE Fellows 遴選委員及 IEEE Awards 委員。曾任歐洲研究局 (ERC) 評(píng)審委員、香港研究資助局評(píng)審委員、香港優(yōu)質(zhì)教育基金督導(dǎo)委員、香港創(chuàng)新科技基金評(píng)審委員及香港資優(yōu)教育咨詢(xún)委員會(huì)委員。
